Plumbing Questions Answered
Most people need a plumber a few times a decade, so questions before you ring are fair enough. This page covers the ones we hear most, and the Belmont home page breaks down every service in detail.
Money questions first
How the pricing works, start to finish, with nothing tucked in the fine print.
What does a call-out cost?
Nothing at all. Every job starts with a $0 call out, so having a plumber look at the problem and quote it costs you nothing until you approve the work.
Do I get the price before work starts?
Yes, always. The quote lands before a tool comes out of the van, and the figure you approve is the figure you pay, with nothing added afterwards.
Are there hidden extras on the bill?
No. The price covers the job as quoted, materials and labour included, and if something unexpected turns up behind a wall we stop and get your sign-off first.
Is a small repair worth a call?
Worth it, every time. A dripping tap or a running cistern is a quick fix, and the $0 call out means the visit costs you nothing on its own.
Booking and timing
A few things worth knowing before you pick up the phone.
How fast can someone get here?
Same-day service is offered where the schedule allows. Ring early in the day and there is a fair chance the job slots in before the afternoon is out.
What counts as an emergency?
Anything where water is going where it shouldn't. A burst pipe flooding a hallway, a toilet overflowing onto the floor or a tank dumping its contents all need a call now.
What happens if something goes wrong afterwards?
We come back and make it right, no questions asked. There is no fine print and no expiry date to argue over, just a promise held to on every job.
Can I ring outside business hours?
Ring whenever you notice the problem. After-hours calls get triaged the same way, and a genuine emergency jumps ahead of routine work like a slow shower drain.
What we actually do
The work splits into four hubs, each with its own service pages:
Which services do you cover?
The full range for houses and small businesses, from emergency call-outs to renovations. The four hubs listed on this page cover the lot and each links to its own service pages.
Do you work on older fibro and weatherboard homes?
Regularly. Plenty of the post-war cottages here still run original pipework, so we re-run lines, swap corroded fittings and replace hot water systems in fibro and weatherboard homes every week.
Do you handle commercial jobs?
Yes, from shopfront bathrooms to cafe kitchen lines. Commercial work has its own page here, because trading hours and back-of-house access change how a job gets planned.
Can I book two jobs in one visit?
Please do. If the hot water and a leaking vanity both need attention, one visit sorts both, and the quote lists each item so you can see what is what.
Plumbing on this peninsula
This stretch of coast throws a few curveballs at plumbing that suburbs further inland never see.
Does salt air really matter for plumbing?
It does. Belmont sits on a narrow sandy peninsula between Lake Macquarie and the ocean, so salt-laden air corrodes external taps, pipework and fittings years faster than inland.
Why do drains block more around here?
Sand and fine sediment wash into older drainage lines, and mid-century homes around town often still run clay pipes that crack and let tree roots in over time.
Who looks after the water mains?
Hunter Water manages the mains and the meter itself. Everything from the meter onward, including the supply lines through the house and the boundary fittings, is a plumber's job.
Do you service the adjoining suburbs?
Yes. Belmont North, Redhead, Belmont South and Valentine all sit on the regular run, and each has its own page covering what the housing stock there typically needs.
Still stuck? Just ask.
Call (02) 4063 3450 and tell us what's happening. $0 call out across Belmont, a clear quote before any work starts, and a job that gets made right if it isn't right the first time.
